Black Red n Green of N22, Skolars Rugby League

The Midweek Sessions of Scandinavian Inspiredness

What a viewThey came from the four corners of the Nordic globe, North, South, East and West of the A406 North Circular to the home of the Black Red n Green for a Training session of Power that would go down in the realms of being. With the Coaching team decimated by Business commitments and the like it was left unto the Viking and the A-man to deliver a full on ferocious defensive class witnessed thus far on our journey of rugby discovery.

For Skolars is OUR Kingdom, the power and the glory, awaiting the young men of the Black Red n Green. For what appeared to be a simple game of opening touch turned into an end to end battle for supremacy. Some great hands and support lead the way to some fantastic plays and then the defence had warmed up in the sunshine that covered N22 in glorious enlightenment.

Once complete the boys worked on their defensive patterns and the voices were heard across the Fields of Perth Road, up n back, no let up, closing down the space working as one full tilting unit of League power. A little backchat welcomed them into the world of the “Grenade”. The boys would hit back with an effort to match any of previous sessions, and then some!!

By now the lack of oxygen taking its toll they went again but only with more vigour and dedication. Leading into the final kick out challenges under fatigue and the work rate increased, the teamwork bonded, the hands improving pass by pass and the Vision of the Skolars completed with a great team session.

The attitude shown by the lads last evening is the standard set by the Coaching Quad, and this is reflected by the actions of the masses working through the tough times to come out of the other side as more disciplined and respectful young men. The reaction I saw last night was the huge smiles in the post session stretching huddle that hit the nail on the proverbial head for me and showed me, that this group of lads from the Four Corners of the Nordic Globe have the passion and belief to make things happen and as one unit of Scandinavian Inspiredness they will.

For now, I bid you Good day and will look forward to whence we meet again, these are the scribes of The Viking, Hallowed by thy Name!!

Game Day vs Hayes & Ealing Vikings – May 16th 2015

SkolarVikings 2015

The roads cleared like the parting of the Red sea Moses style. For whist I may not carry a staff of power I most certainly have the ability to instil belief into each and every one of our children who proudly wear the Black Red n Green of London Skolars .

We arrived to a dawn chorus, whereby there were 13 young guns waiting to make a carry, a tackle, a pass. By pitch marking outs end there were 20. Once technical areas were coned and the huddle called there were 26 U12s/13s players all ready to rock. In numbers we believe!!

Our opponents today have managed to use my name, without permission and in training this week I instructed the boys to go get it back for me, not as individuals but as one impenetrable group of young men willing to give their all in the name of Rugby League.

The huddle was ready, the Coaching team assembled, time to crack on!! A great stretch from Coach “OOSAAAHH” Kelly would lead them into the Realm of the Viking, hands the order of the first psalm, pacier and At speed for psalm 2, then some gloriously quick hands with added pressure of a Sun tanning legend, aided and abetted by “OOOSSAAAHHHH” the boys would utilise psalm 3 and calmly sidestep and pass around the coaching combo and begin building the momentum towards the showdown with our visitors from my ol’ stompin’ ground, Hayes and Ealing, now known as The Vikings!!

Could not have been scripted any better!!

As the sun rose, the legs of White Man Made Mountain descended into their first public outing of the season, truly a breathtaking sight for the masses.

From the off the boys from N22 asserted themselves with some great defensive work and a titanic first quarter ensued. As the Black Red n Green began to get a foothold you could see the confidence beginning to shine through as we made our first incursion into enemy territory. This was our time, some great play of the balls opened up the running lanes and before you could shout, “Sunfactor 50 Coach!” we were in!!

A great start, and more would follow as tackle after tackle would release the pressure and explode our attacking prowess across the whole of Perth Road to the delight of the fans.

With 26 players to choose from some may have felt a managerial nightmare of epic proportions was on the cards but neigh, this is how we develop, this how a dream becomes a reality, this is how you manage the expectations of so many and enlighten the populous to become part of the Rugby League Vision according the Viking. Every one of the boys played with 120% passion and commitment, several of the boys backed up and played for the Vikings, by the time we played a final quarter, everybody came off with a smiling face knowing they were and will always be part of something very special in the heart of N22, the home of Rugby League in London.

A massive thank you must go out to our opposition Hayes and Ealing Vikings and their Head Coach Chris as they played their part to the max. The game was played in the truest spirit of the sport, and the post match huddle with all players and coaches showed what Rugby League in the Southern Heartland really means to all who are part of the dream.

These are the Saturday afternoon post game scribes from the THE Scandinavian Sun-tanning sensation who bids you a good afternoon and an even better evening.
